Notes about tools and objects that we carry, and they carry us.
Carrying as Culture is an MFA Design project that explores publishing as a method and means of research, building bridges between the thinking and the making, and exploring individual and collaborative research.
The project emerges from a curiosity to reimagine the encyclopedia as a living format, composed of fragments and connections between what has happened and what is happening. At the heart of this reimagining is the concept of carrying, both literally and metaphorically: what do we carry? How can transportation become a way of looking at the feminist history of design? These questions are explored through historical research, conversations with friends, and collaborative workshops, where conversations take place and containers such as pockets, bags, and ceramic bottles are created.
